We are so glad you’ve chosen to live in Homestead. Our community is staged for a leap in growth this next year, so we hope you are ready! Each month we will send out a newsletter via email to update residents on what’s going on in the neighborhood, or remind you of rules, and share information. Important Watering Schedule
The Homestead Owners Association receives its water from New Dry Creek Irrigation District. A specific allotment of water is distributed to the community during the irrigation season, and water that is not captured and used within the community continues to flow downstream. The reservoirs did not fill this year, for the second year in a row, and a short irrigation season appears inevitable. It appears that water shortages will be seen in the valley. Most areas will experience water reductions to prolong the irrigation season. New Drey Creek has yet to announce any shortage for Homestead, but we do want residents to be prepared if it comes. Any shortfall in irrigation will require residents to supplement with their house water and hose. Because of this possible shortage, it’s important that all our residents are following the established water schedule:
· Even ending addresses water Monday, Wednesday, Friday
· Odd ending addresses water Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
· Sunday is a makeup day for the common areas.
This schedule should allow the system to distribute water evenly throughout the community, so pressure is maintained. If everyone waters at the same time/day, it creates too much demand on the system and simply drains the water available more rapidly than it can be replaced causing the pumps to lose pressure and eventually shut down. Once pressure is lost, no one can water, and with limited water, we need to do our best to make sure everyone can irrigate. Everyone is on the honor system in watering on their days. If you see someone not following the schedule, please remind them in a courteous manner. We encourage good watering habits, and hope everyone will be mindful of what they are watering and when they are watering. The Association will be making adjustments to the common areas as well. It’s always a great idea to be prepared, so don’t wait to buy a hose or sprinkler when everyone runs out of irrigation water. Get these items now if you don’t already have them. If we all do our part as a community, we will have a successful irrigation season.
Example: 5051 Old World is an odd ending address, and should water Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Pool Time
The pool is open and families are already enjoying the water. Please remember some very important rules:
1) Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult (18 years of age or older). Children between 13 and 17 years of age may not watch younger children.
2) To prevent disturbances to others, radios and other electronic devices are permitted only when played with headphones and at a sound level not offensive to others.
3) Food should be kept away from the pool, and please put trash in the trash can.
4) No glass, smoking, or alcohol is permitted.
5) No oversized inflatables or inner tubes, and use of pool toys should be used with consideration of others also using the pool.
If you have not yet received a pool key, you may stop in the Brighton office at 2929 W. Navigator Dr. Suite 400, Meridian, ID 83642, Mon-Thurs 8am-4:30pm and Fri 8am-noon, and pick one up from the receptionist. If something is left behind, check the lost and found bucket. Know that this will regularly be cleaned out, so we are not harboring dirty laundry all season. Let’s all be courteous and this will be a great pool season for everyone!
Pets
Pets should be on a leash, and in control, when not on your property. Dogs should not be free to roam, and should be on a leash with someone holding that leash. This stops them from roaming yards, or approaching others who may be scared, allergic, or not as friendly to other pets.
4th of July
We wish everyone a very safe and wonderful 4th of July. Our office will be closed Monday, July 5th in observance of the holiday. Please remember to use caution when lighting fireworks. There are a lot of great tips online provided by the National Safety Council.
Ada County Mosquito
The hot weather often brings mosquitos. If you have a concern about them in an area you may reach out to Ada County at 208-577-4646 to treat the area.
